Forward Regulatory Plan 2021-2023: Amendments to the Cannabis Regulations (Flavours in Cannabis Extracts for Inhalation)

Title of Regulatory Initiative

Amendments to the Cannabis Regulations (Flavours in Cannabis Extracts for Inhalation)

Enabling Act

Cannabis Act

Description

The purpose of the proposed amendments would be to protect public health and safety, in particular by protecting young persons and others from inducements to use cannabis extracts for inhalation. The proposed amendments would set restrictions on flavours in cannabis extracts for inhalation, including cannabis vaping products.

The proposed amendments would also restrict promoting, packaging, or labelling a cannabis extract for inhalation with certain flavours.

The proposed regulatory amendments would align with proposed restrictions on flavours in vaping products under the Tobacco and Vaping Products Act.
