Authorizing routine works, undertakings and activities regulations
Enabling act(s): Fisheries Act
Description of the objective
The purpose of this regulation is to identify classes of works, undertaking and activities and set conditions under which a person can carry them on without contravening the current prohibition under subsection 35(1) of the Fisheries Act and the proposed prohibitions under subsection 35(1) and 34.4(1) outlined in Bill C-68. Those regulations would be aligned with the proposed subsections 34.4(1) (death of fish) or 35(1) (result in harmful alteration, disruption or destruction of fish habitat) should Bill C-68 be adopted.
It is anticipated that these regulations will be in place sometime between 2020 and 2025.
